Hello, ladies and welcome to my blog, Homestyle Health and Fitness. This blog is about sharing my weight loss challenges as a woman over 60 and making my transformation into a healthier me in the comfort of my own home.

My name is Cheryl and I have been fighting back and forth with my weight since I was a teenager. There have been successes and just as many or more failures, but I have never given up the fight. Now at 64 years of age, I am dealing with compromised health issues such as diabetic neuropathy (left leg) and bleeding behind my eyes very close to the macular.

I have heard about and seen on TV all of the side affects of suffering with long term type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Still, I convinced myself that because it took so long for me to actually experience these health issues, that I was doing fine. But after my roommate had a stroke after suffering prolonged high blood pressure, I received a serious wake up call.

So now, I really don't have a choice but to make some serious changes in my life. I have chosen a type of  weight loss and health plan that I won't go into detail about right now, (I'm sure some would think my regimen a bit too extreme). What I want to do in this blog is to share my experiences on this final weight loss journey such as my choice of work out routines, food that I eat and hopefully I will be able to talk to other women my age who would be willing to share their experiences, trials and tribulations of trying to lose weight over the age of 60.


To find candidates for my interviews, I'm starting a Facebook group asking women to join me in my quest to encourage one another and to share what works for them in their journey to better health. If you're interested in being interviewed you can also leave a comment below.

There will also be lists of the best consumer products, articles regarding what plans work best for women over 60, the sharing of recipes and much more. I also have a Youtube channel of the same name, but I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to use it yet.

So I hope I can develop a community of followers and readers who are looking forward to encouraging women over 60 everywhere to live their best lives and to develop a better and healthier way of life so that we can be around for the long haul for our families and friends, and become our best selves!
